Repairs

Thank you for choosing YourTel America as you Telephone Service Provider. This page explains how the repair of your telephone services works.

Definitions:

  • "D-Marc" -This is the grey box, usually on the side of your home or apartment building. This is the place where your Telephone Service connects from the Phone Company to your residence.
  • "Inside"   -Anything after the D-Marc is considered inside the home. This wiring is your responsibility.
  • "Outside" -Anything before the D-Marc is considered outside the home. This is the responsibility of the Phone Company.

Initial Service Call:

When you initially sign up for service at YourTel America, we will have a company contracted by YourTel make a service call to your home or apartment FOR FREE if your service is not working. We will make sure you have one jack in your home working, as part of our initial activation charge. This will be the jack or location most convenient for the install. If you have Wireplan, the technician will repair up to two existing jacks you chose, or if you don't have one, install one in the location you chose. You will be charged for any of the FREE services if you discontinue service within 60 days. If you do not own the building that you are living in, you will be required to have a permission to drill form completed by the owner. This gives the technician permission to install the wiring.

Note: If our technician comes to your home to check for trouble, and it is inside your home, unless you have the Wireplan, you will be charged a trip charge.

What is the difference between an AT&T Technician and a Technician provided through YourtTel?

An AT&T technician will only be involved if the problem is "outside" your home and involves their equipment. Typically their work is always free because it is "outside" the home. However, you will be charged for their services in certain situations, like missed appointments, safety problems, or malicious damage.

Appointments:

When you call us to report telephone trouble or to schedule service work, an appointment will be scheduled on the next available day. We cannot give you an exact time, only the day the technician will be out. You are responsible to be there or have someone home over the age of 18 when the technician arrives. We will attempt to call you the night before to confirm the appointment, and the technician will also attempt to call you before he comes to your home.

Canceling Appointments:

If you find out that you no longer need service, or if you cannot make the appointment it is your responsibility to contact us and let us know. If you fail to cancel the appointment, you will still be responsible for a trip charge. Wireplan customers will still be responsible for the trip charge, but at a reduced rate.

Missed Appointments:

If you are not home when the technician arrives, you will be responsible for the trip charge. You will also be responsible for another trip charge if you have the technician return for another appointment. Wireplan customers are also responsible for missed appointments, but at a reduced rate.

Safety Concerns:

We take the safety of the technicians very seriously. If the technician cannot work on your service because it is considered unsafe, it will be classified as a missed appointment. Some examples are:

  • Dangerous Pets
  • Flooded basements
  • Power line/electrical equipment

Alarm Systems:

When you have an alarm system in your home, the Alarm Company runs a 'loop' from the "D-Marc" to the alarm system. This is how it captures your line and transmits a signal to their monitoring center. If the alarm system is causing the problem with your service, we will disconnect this 'loop' if you sign a waiver. If you do not want it disconnected, you must contact your alarm company to have the alarm fixed. In either case a trip charge applies. A trip charge also applies for Wireplan customers, but at a reduced rate.
